WINDOWS 98 SETUP

Go Back

  1. Click on Start, Programs, Internet Explorer, Connection Wizard
  2. When the Internet Connection Wizard appears, select the middle option "I have an existing internet account…". Click Next.
  3. Select the top option "Select this option if you are accessing the internet using an Internet Service Provider". Click Next.
  4. Select "Connect using my phone line". Click Next.
  5. At this point you may be prompted to insert your Windows98 disk, if so insert the disk and then click OK. If at anytime you are asked if you would like to keep an existing file, choose Yes.
  6. From this point on if you are asked to keep use an existing service or to create a new service, select create a new service and then click Next to continue. Please Note: This step may not apply to you.
  7. Enter 856 in the area code box and the local calling number that services your area. Click Next.
  8. Type in your username (Example: johndoe, not johndoe@jersey.net) and password. Click Next.
  9. Select Yes to change the advanced settings. Click Next.
  10. Select PPP. Click Next.
  11. Select "I don’t need to type anything when login on". Click Next.
  12. Select "My Internet service provider automatically assigns me one". Click Next.
  13. Select "Always use the following" and type the following:
    For DNS server, type 209.66.0.10
    For Alternate DNS server, type 209.66.0.12
    Click Next.
  14. For connection name, enter Jerseynet. Click Next.
  15. Select Yes to set up an Internet Mail Account. Click Next.
  16. For Display name, type in your full name. Click Next.
  17. For Email address, type in your email address (Example: loginname@jersey.net). Click Next.
  18. Select POP3 for incoming mail server type, and enter the following for the mail server names:
    For Incoming mail server: mail.jersey.net
    For Outgoing mail server: mail.jersey.net
    Click Next.
  19. Enter your login name and password. Click Next.
  20. Enter mail.jersey.net for the Friendly Name. Click Next.
  21. Select Yes to setup an Internet News Account. Click Next.
  22. Your name should already be displayed. Click Next.
  23. Your email address should already be displayed. Click Next.
  24. Enter news.jersey.net for the News (NNTP) Server. Click Next.
  25. Enter news.jersey.net for the Friendly Name. Click Next.
  26. Select No. Click Next.
  27. Click Finish.
