To Install the InterActive Kit for Windows
and use the Internet Setup Wizard.
- Double-click on My Computer and then
double-click on 3 1/2 Floppy.
- Double-click on the Install Icon.
- After the main install routine runs the installation will
start the Microsoft Explorer installation.
- If you already have Explorer
installed skip ahead to step 9 and run the Internet Setup Wizard.
Do Not Install this version of Explorer if you already have Explorer version
3.
- At the first screen click I Agree. Select a location
for the installation of Explorer. Typically you would
double-click on (C:) and then click OK.
- When finished you will be prompted to restart your system.
Click OK and the reboot your computer by
clicking Start, Shutdown, Restart the computer ( do not just turn off power when
using Windows 95).
Be sure to remove the diskette in the floppy drive before rebooting. If at any time you
get a warning regarding
that DHCP cant be found, click on Dont show this message again and continue.
- When the computer restarts double-click on the new icon on
the desktop named The Internet.
- At this point the Internet Setup Wizard should
be started.
- Should you wish to run the Internet
Setup Wizard in the future it can be found under Start,
Programs, Accessories, Internet Tools.
- Click Next.
- Select I already have an account with a different service
provider and click next.
- If you want to use Microsoft Exchange to send and receive
EMAIL click yes (recommended) and then next.
- Click next. (You may need you Windows 95 CD or disks).
- Select your modem and click next.
- Enter INS for the name of your Internet Service
Provider and click next.
- Enter the phone number that services your area (227-0388 for
Blackwood, 298-9277 for Bordentown, 768-7509 for Berlin,
456-1136 for Gloucester, 461-6667 for Delran, 267-7847 for
Lumberton). Make sure that Bring up terminal window after dialing
is not checked. Click next.
- Enter your username (all lowercase) and your password (with
the appropriate capital letter(s)).
- Select My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns
one.
- For DNS Server enter 205.137.56.10 and for alternate
server enter 205.137.56.12 . Click next.
- Make sure Use Internet Mail is selected. Enter your
email address in the for of your login name@jersey.net.
Example: me@jersey.net
- For Internet mail server enter mail.jersey.net and
click next.
- Click next.
- Click Finish.
- Click yes to restart your computer.
- If you are Dialing into one of these phone numbers
(267-7847,298-9277) proceed to
Automating your Login with
a Dial-Up Script. Otherwise Stop here!
Automating your Login with a Dial-Up
Script
(You must complete the following section for your Internet
account to operate
properly if the phone number you are dialing is: 267-7847,298-9277)
- Click the START button, select Programs, InterActive
Kit, Scripter. The dial-up scripting tool will be installed.
- Click the START button, select Programs, Accessories,
Dial-Up Scripter Tool.
- The current dial-up profile(s) will be listed in the text
area on the left including INS. Select the INS then press the
Browse button. The script INS.SCP should be visible, (it may appear as Ins)
If it is not, navigate to /Program
Files/Accessories. Select INS.SCP and click Open.
- Click the Apply button.
- Double click My Computer, then Control
Panel.
- Double-click on Internet.
- Click on the Connection Tab.
- Make sure that Use AutoDial is
checked.
- In the selector box under Choose the Dial-Up Networking
Connection select INS. Click OK to close this dialog box.
- If this is a brand new installation you do not need to do
the following section, . If you are upgrading from a system that
brings up a post dial-up terminal screen (black screen that prompts you for ppp, login
name, etc) then you will need to
do the following. Although if this is a brand new installation, proceed to Connecting To
InterActive Network Systems.
To disable manual log in:
- Double-click the My Computer Icon.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking Icon.
- Single-click the INS icon with the RIGHT mouse button
and select Properties.
- Select Configure.
- Select Options.
- Remove the check mark from Bring up terminal window after
dialing. Click OK.
- Proceed to Connecting To
InterActive Network Systems.
Connecting to InterActive Network
Systems (AUTOMATED LOGIN)
- Double click Internet icon on the desktop.
- Enter your login name as User Name.
- Enter your password. You may wish to check the save password
box.
- If this box is grayed out, go to the network icon in the
control panel and select Add, select Client, select Microsoft
and choose Client for Microsoft Networks. You will be prompted to restart the
machine.
- Click on connect.

Downloading
Netscape For Windows 95
If you have Microsoft Explorer you can download Netscape by going to
http://www.jersey.net and clicking on the Netscape icon.
- Create a DOS window by selecting Start, Programs,
MSDOS Prompt.
Create a temporary directory and change to it as shown below.
mkdir c:\temp
cd c:\temp
- Invoke an ftp session by typing:
ftp ftp3.netscape.com
Note: Upon occasion ftp3 may be extremely busy. Substitute
another server name such as ftp13 in that circumstance.
- Log in as anonymous.. Note that you will not see the
password while you are typing it,
User (ftp3.netscape.com:(none)): anonymous
Password: yourname@jersey.net (Replace "yourname"
with your actual login name)
ftp> binary
- Change to the newest Netscape directory. The directory
should have the name of the newest version, in the example
below the newest version is 3.01.
ftp> cd /pub/navigator/3.01/windows
- Retrieve the 32-bit version of Netscape. Note that this
filename changes from time to time.
ftp> get n32e301.exe
- The download will require between 20 to 60 minutes depending
on your modem speed. When the download
is completed the ftp> prompt will return. To exit type quit.
- Exit DOS. To run the Netscape install command, bring up the
c\/temp directory with My Computer or Explorer
or do a Find, File or Folders, n32e30.exe . Double-click on the filename(n32e301.exe)
and the install
procedure will start.

To set up
Various Programs
Netscape versions 2.0, 3.0,
and 3.01
- Click on Options, Mail and News
Preferences, Servers.
- For both outgoing and incoming mail servers (SMTP and
POP) enter mail.jersey.net .
- For Pop User Name enter your login name. This should
be just the lowercase login name without any extra characters,
I.E. do not use @jersey.net.
- For News Server enter news.jersey.net .
- Click on Identity.
- For Your Name enter your real name or the name you
would like to appear on the From line of your mail.
- Under Your Email, enter your login name including
@jersey.net on the end. An example would be me@jersey.net .
- To read mail click on Window, Netscape Mail. To read mail
click on File, Getmail or click on the Getmail icon.
- To send mail click on To.

Eudora
- Click on Special, Configuration.
- Under POP Account enter your login name followed by
@jersey.net. An example would be me@jersey.net .
- For Real Name enter your real name or the name you
would like to appear on the From line of your mail.
- For SMTP Server enter mail.jersey.net.
- To receive mail click on File, Checkmail. To send mail,
click on Message, Send Message. Compose your message and click on Send.

IRC Chat
- Open the IRC program that came with your InterActive Kit by
clicking on Start, Program, InterActive Kit, IRC.
- Click on File, Setup. Select an IRC
host. Your kit should default to irc.cris.com.
- For Real Name enter a false identity unless you dont
mind if other individuals on the Internet know your real name.
- For email enter a fake email address unless you dont
mind if other individuals on the Internet know your email address.
- Pick a Nickname and an Alternate Nickname. Again these
should preserve your anonymity. If someone else is using the nickname
you have chosen either the alternate nickname will be used or you will be told that your
name is already in use.
- Click Connect if still in the Setup menu or click on
the lightning bolt icon when at the main screen.
- After successful connection to an IRC chat server there will
be a window with the name of the server somewhere in the top title
bar. At the bottom of that window is a single row where you can type in commands. Type in /list
into the bottom line.
- Downloading the list of chat rooms may take several minutes.
When completed, scroll down the list to the chat room you would like
to join. Double-click on the name of the chat room. A new window will appear representing
the chat room. When you type, others
in the room will see what you are typing.

News
- Open the News program that came with your InterActive Kit by
clicking on Start, Program, InterActive Kit, News.
- The first time you open News you will be presented with a
setup window Communication Options. Replace NewsServerName
with news.jersey.net . For MailServerName put mail.jersey.net . Do
not enter a user name and password or you will not be
able to connect to the news server. Click OK.
- At the next window Personal Information enter your
actual name for Your Name. Enter your email address at the next line in the
form username@jersey.net .Leave the Reply-to and Organization name
blank.
- Click on Network, Connect to server. The
program will respond with Request LIST from Server. Click yes.
- When the program is done downloading the list of news
groups, click on the name of the newsgroup you wish to subscribe to. Click OK.
- Clicking on displayed newsgroups will show the contents of
that newsgroup.

Our new Digital
Service has been installed and offers speeds up to 33.6 bps,
56.6bps (The K-Flex Standard when available) and ISDN.
This is the first of many services that are going in.
Windows95:
- If you have Automated Log In:
- Click on the Start Button, Programs, Accessories, and
Dial-up Scripting Tool
- On the Left Highlight the name of your connection (typically
INS)
- On the Right under Script delete the text (It should look
something like this C:\Program Files\Accessories\Ins.scp)
- Press Apply, then Close Button
Now when you log in the system will extract
your login name and password from the "Connect To" box. Make sure they are
correct.
There is Nothing to do. But youll notice that the
prompts are Different!!
- Changing the phone number:
- Double click on My Computer and then Dial-up Networking
- Right click on your connection (typically INS)
- Click on Properties
- Change the phone number to 456-1136 or 768-7509 or 227-0388
- Press the OK Button

Windows 3.1
- Click here to download the
Windows 3.1 patch.exe.
- If your browser asks you what to do with the file, click save
file.
- Then where to save the patch to. We suggest saving it to
directory like c:\temp or c:\ .
- Disconnect your internet
connection and make sure that the program
TCPMAN is not running. We recommend restarting Windows to be sure.
- Execute the file by going to Program Manager
and clicking on Run, Browse,
and select the file name depending on where you choose to save it in step 2.
- As the patch runs it will search for and replace files. It
will pause and prompt you
for whether you wish to replace the files. We suggest pressing the YES
key.
- To change phone numbers, go to the Internet!
group and click on Configure.
Select the phone number you desire and proceed as you did when first installing the kit.

- Disabling the Script in Config PPP
- Go to Control Panel and Select Config PPP
- Click On Config
- Change the Phone Number to 456-1136 or 768-7509 or 227-0388
- Click on Authentication And Fill out Login and Password
- Click OK
- Click Connect Script
- Delete All Values and <CR>s ( All Should Read
OUT)
- Click OK
- Click Done
- Click Open to Connect to INS
- For People who are running FREE PPP
- Click Free PPP setup
- Click on the Accounts Tab
- Click on Edit
- Change the Phone Number to 456-1136 or 768-7509 or 227-0388
- Find Connect: And Change to Directly
- Check to make sure User Name and Password are Correct
- Click OK
- Click Connect to connect to INS
